Treatment of Arthritis, Dysmenorrhoea, and Pyrexia Using Brufen Tablets

What is Primary Dysmenorrhea?

Dysmenorrhea can include different kinds of pain, including sharp, throbbing, dull, nauseating, burning, or shooting pain. Dysmenorrhea may precede menstruation by several days or may accompany it, and it usually subsides as menstruation tapers off. Dysmenorrhea may coexist with excessively heavy blood loss, known as menorrhagia.
Primary dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain that's not a symptom of an underlying gynecologic disorder but is related to the normal process of menstruation. It often begins with the onset of ovulatory cycles six months to one year after the first menstrual cycle. The pain begins with the onset of the period and may last for 24-72 hours.
Primary dysmenorrhea is more likely to affect girls during adolescence. Fortunately for many women, the problem eases as they mature, particularly after a pregnancy. Although it may be painful and sometimes debilitating for brief periods of time, it is not harmful.

What is Pyrexia?

Fever, also known as Pyrexia is one of the most common medical signs and is characterized by an elevation of body temperature above the normal range of 36.5-37.5°C (97.7-99.5 °F) due to an increase in the temperature regulatory set-point. As a person's temperature increases, there is, in general, a feeling of cold despite an increase in body temperature.
With the exception of very high temperatures, treatment to reduce fever is often not necessary; however, antipyretic medications can be effective at lowering the temperature, which may improve the affected person's comfort.

Treatment of High Cholesterol Using Crestor Tablets

What is High Cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a lipid (fat) which is produced by the liver and is vital for normal body function. Every cell in our body has cholesterol in its outer layer. The desirable levels of Cholesterol is less than 200 mg/dL, borderline high value is 200 to 239 mg/dL and a high value is 240 mg/dL and above.
Hypercholesterolemia is the presence of high levels of cholesterol in the blood.
Cholesterol can build up in the artery wall, restricting the flow of blood to your heart, brain and the rest of your body. High cholesterol levels can cause:
1)Atherosclerosis which means narrowing of the arteries
2)Higher coronary heart disease risk - an abnormality of the arteries that supply blood and oxygen to the heart.
3)Heart attack occurs when the supply of blood and oxygen to an area of heart muscle is blocked, usually by a clot in a coronary artery. This causes your heart muscle to die.
4)Angina (chest pain or discomfort) occurs when your heart muscle does not get enough blood.
5)Other cardiovascular conditions - diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
6)Stroke and mini-stroke
It also increases the chance of a blood clot

Crestor Tablets (Rosuvastatin Calcium) – Product Information

Crestor Tablets manufactured by Astra Zeneca is a medicine used in combination with exercise, diet, and weight-loss to treat high cholesterol and related conditions. Crestor is used when the the response to diet and exercise is not adequate.
It is also indicated for risk reduction of MI, stroke, and arterial revascularization procedures in patients without clinically evident CHD, but with multiple risk factors.
Crestor belongs to a group of medicines known as 'statins'. It lowers the "bad" cholesterol, and raises the "good" cholesterol when exercise and changes to diet are not enough on their own. It also lowers the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
The active ingredient present in Crestor Tablets is Rosuvastatin Calcium.

Treatment of Shingles, Genital Herpes and Cold Sores using Generic Famvir Tablets

What are Shingles (Herpes Zoster)?

Shingles (herpes zoster) is a disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus - the same virus that causes chickenpox. After you have chickenpox, the virus stays in your body. It may not cause problems for many years. As you get older, the virus may reappear as shingles. Unlike chickenpox, you can't catch shingles from someone who has it.
The earliest symptoms of herpes zoster, which include headache, fever, and malaise, are nonspecific, and may result in an incorrect diagnosis. These symptoms are commonly followed by sensations of burning pain, itching, hyperesthesia (oversensitivity), or paresthesia ("pins and needles": tingling, pricking, or numbness). The pain may be mild to extreme in the affected dermatome, with sensations that are often described as stinging, tingling, aching, numbing or throbbing, and can be interspersed with quick stabs of agonizing pain.

What are Genital Herpes?

Genital Herpes is a common infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). It causes painful blisters on the genitals and the surrounding areas. As genital herpes can be passed to others through intimate sexual contact, it is often referred to as a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
You are most likely to get herpes if you touch the skin of someone who has herpes sores, blisters, or a rash. However, the herpes virus can still be spread even when no sores or other symptoms are present. Sometimes, the person does not even know they are infected.

What are Cold Sores?

Cold sores (Herpes labialis, or orolabial herpes) are small blisters that develop on the lips or around the mouth due to infection of the lip by herpes simplex virus (HSV-1).
They are caused by the herpes simplex virus and usually clear up without treatment within 7-10 days. Cold sores often start with a tingling, itching or burning sensation around your mouth. An outbreak typically causes small blisters or fluid-filled sores to appear, on or around the mouth, most commonly on the edges of your lower lip. The sores typically heal within 2-3 weeks, but the herpes virus remains dormant in the facial nerves, following orofacial infection, periodically reactivating (in symptomatic people) to create sores in the same area of the mouth or face at the site of the original infection.

Generic Famvir (Virovir Tablets) – Product Information

Generic Famvir Tablets (Virovir) is used for the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles), acute treatment of first episode and recurrences of genital herpes infections, and for the suppression of recurrent genital herpes. Treatment of Hypertension using Generic Bystolic Tablets

What is hypertension?

Hypertension or high blood pressure, sometimes called arterial hypertension, is a chronic medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is elevated. This requires the heart to work harder than normal to circulate blood through the blood vessels. Blood pressure is summarised by two measurements, systolic and diastolic, which depend on whether the heart muscle is contracting (systole) or relaxed between beats (diastole) and equate to a maximum and minimum pressure, respectively. Normal blood pressure at rest is within the range of 100-140mmHg systolic (top reading) and 60-90mmHg diastolic (bottom reading). High blood pressure is said to be present if it is persistently at or above 140/90 mmHg.
Hypertension or high blood pressure is sometimes called "the silent killer" because HBP has no symptoms, so you may not be aware that it's damaging your arteries, heart and other organs. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can injure or kill you. When blood pressure readings rise to 180 or above for the systolic - top - number OR 110 or above for the diastolic - bottom - number, inform your doctor or call for emergency medical treatment immediately. The possible health consequences that can happen over time when high blood pressure is left untreated include:

  • Damage to the heart and coronary arteries, including heart attack, heart disease, congestive heart failure, aortic dissection and atherosclerosis (fatty buildups in the arteries that cause them to harden)
  • Stroke
  • Kidney damage
  • Vision loss
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Memory loss
  • Fluid in the lungs
  • Angina
  • Peripheral artery disease

Generic Bystolic (Nebistar Tablets) – Product Information

Treatment and Prevention of Breast Cancer using Nolvadex Tablets

What is Breast Cancer?

Breast Cancer is a type of cancer originating from breast tissue, most commonly from the inner lining of milk ducts or the lobules that supply the ducts with milk. Cancers originating from ducts are known as ductal carcinomas, while those originating from lobules are known as lobular carcinomas.
Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), or intraductal carcinoma, is breast cancer in the lining of the milk ducts that has not yet spread to nearby tissues. It may progress to invasive cancer if untreated. Lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) is a marker for an increased risk of invasive cancer in the same or both breasts.
The size, stage, rate of growth, and other characteristics of a breast cancer determine the type of treatment. Treatment may include surgery, drugs (hormonal therapy and chemotherapy), radiation and/or immunotherapy.
Some breast cancers are sensitive to hormones such as estrogen and/or progesterone, which makes it possible to treat them by blocking the effects of these hormones.

Nolvadex Tablets (Tamoxifen Citrate) – Product Information
